My comments on western media reporting on ChandraYaan

Date with moon: Chandrayaan to enter lunar orbit today
Durga,Micigan, USA,says:Did you see how the Chandrayaan launch news is reported by BBC and other US services ? They just can't stand we getting better than them ... This is what I wrote to BBC and PBS News Service ... ........... Yesterday I was listening to the BBC World News at 9 am, on my way to work, the report on Chandrayaan-1 . The reporter started it like this "India's Chandrayaan is successful but is it right for a country to do this project when so much poverty is there ?" It is very upsetting to hear this kind of comments from BBC, which is expected to have some standards and integrity in their services. I feel it is a very very inappropriate comment on India. The reporter conveniently forgot that India is one of the fastest growing economies in developing countries. It is very insulting to comment on a country which has proven its ability and self sustainability in many respects. India spent its own money in developing these missions. It is none of anybody's business to set the priorities for India. Poverty is there every where even in the US, in Africa , in China and many other countries. Then why is it always highlighted only when India achieves something significant ? India is not only self sufficient , it is also helping many other countries.If you can recollect, India gave the biggest relief fund for Katrina to US and Tsunami also, despite being hit by Tsunami . I believe, the reporters should learn to see the positives first before making the comments in the age old biased ways. They should develop a wider perspective in assessing a situation, shedding the narrow views. I hope BBC takes steps in educating their reporters to be better informed and also takes care in editing properly before broadcasting news like this.
